Here are some photos from Lubna and Bohn Popp's Henna party. Stay tuned for the video of the Henna party and the beautiful wedding they had in Indianapolis. We had so much fun with Lubna and Bohn's family. We have commented to several people how warm and inviting the families were to us. This was our first Henna party. The colors were so vibrant and filled with culture rich traditions. We were amazed at the intricacy of the Henna designs. They were all done free hand.

One of the things we most like about videography is that it takes us places that we may not otherwise get to see and experience things like Lubna and Bohn's Henna party.

Great Book

This is short read book.  If you are a photographer, videographer, painter, etc.  this is a book you might want to pick up and read. When you are in a creative profession or even just a hobby, there comes a time when your ideas seem to feel flat.  The equivalent to 'writers block'.   "Art and Fear" walks you through some questions like: "What is your art really about?", "Where is it going?" and "What stands in the way of getting it there?".  Whatever your artistic passion is, there is always a time when the artist questions whether his or her work is really any good.  You look back at older work and if you are like me you laugh.  Your creative expression is really an evolution of things you have seen and things you have experimented with.  For instance, as a photographer you rarely take one photo of something you take several.  That's why bracketing is such a great tool.  You play with light.  You manipulate shutter speeds or depth of field to convey or communicate to the audience, the story.   But even after all of that,  you still look at your work from the 'professional eye' and see things that you just don't like. It could be angle, lighting, subject, color, etc.  Ansel Adams used an old adage that said, "the perfect is the enemy of the good".  The point I think here is that it's really never going to be PERFECT and if you wait for it, your not going to get your shot.  Maybe that's a life lesson as well.

The thing I most retained from the book is this:  We all study each others work, whether you are a Photographer, Videographer, Writer, Painter, etc., eventually your own preferences and style emerge.  The book had a quote that said; "sing the song of your heart, and sooner or later the world will accept and reward the authentic voice".   Man! John sure is going deep on this post!

So anyway...Just thought you might want to pick the book up.  It's about 125 pages.  ISBN 0-9614547-3-3

Thanks,
John

Photographer Spotlight Videos

We will be shooting a few Spotlight Videos for some great photographers. The concept is to introduce the potential client to the photographer and to communicate their own unique branding. These typically are used for web delivery or as part of promotional material that may be distributed. We had the pleasure of meeting Anne Ruthmann who is a phenomenal photographer and she is a very passionate person. We love her personality and she is just simply a very nice person. These types of projects are so fun and inspiring because you are working with someone who already has a creative spirit. We worked with Anne this last summer at a wedding and can't wait for the next time. When the videographer and the photographer have inherent chemistry together it only makes for a better experience and end product for the Bride and Groom.

Anne is going to fly in some of her clients for some on camera testimonials, which always make the message all that more powerful. We are working on using some independent artists for music. First shoot is sometime in February. Stay tuned!

Kelly & Rich

NOTE: Quality reduced for the web.

This is a Highlight we did for Kelly and Rich. This couple really seemed to know that they were the one for each other. The wedding was at Trader's Point Christian Church and the reception was held at the Country Club of Indianapolis. Kelly and Rich were a great couple to get to know. We had some fun with photos in downtown Zionsville. The photographer was Janie and Jim (Husband & Wife team) who own Alanna Photography We found out that their studio is located just across the street from our studio in the historic downtown of Noblesville. Small world it is.

The photos at the end of the Highlight are courtesy of Allana Photography.

Steve & Amanda

We wanted to introduce you to a new addition to Northernlight Filmworks. Steve & Amanda Moon. Steve is my brother and is a great photographer / videographer. Steve has helped with several video projects in the past and has a great eye for capturing the right moment. Amanda, my sister-in-law, is also very creative and detail oriented. She keeps Steve in check :) Steve & Amanda are committed to following the flow of your wedding day as candidly as possible and to refine the footage into your wedding story.

I played with my new toy (Nikon) on Thanksgiving Day to take some pictures of Steve & Amanda for their Christmas card. They have a little girl named Emma who is 2 years old and an 8 month old named Jack (after our Dad).

Wedding at the Brickyard - Deanna & Anthony

This was a wedding we filmed at the Brickyard Crossing. Deanna and Anthony have a racing background ( see the previous post ) and they really enjoyed themselves that day and so did we as we were granted access to the track! The thing I remember most about this wedding is how much in love the two of them are, the track and how the guests really liked to dance!

Thank you Deanna and Anthony for selecting us to film your wedding.

Wedding - Simmons Winery - Heidi & Anthony

NOTE: Video quality reduced by Blogger

This was a wedding we filmed at Simmons Winery. It got a little warm that day but the lighting was great to work with. We enjoyed getting to know Heidi and Anthony. You know, when we finish the edit on weddings, it seems like the music score always seems to fit the couple and this highlight is no different. We enjoyed working with a very talented photographer Anne Ruthmann of Anne Ruthmann Photography. You have to check out her blog...it's one of the best.

Ingrid & Chris - "Save the Date"

NOTE: Video Quality reduced by Blogger

Ingrid and Chris were fun to work with during their engagement shoot. Erin Hession of Erin Hession Photography got Ingrid and Chris to warm up to all of us. The "Save the Date" video has been really popular this year. It's a unique way of announcing your engagement or as a reminder of the wedding to family and friends. As the wedding day approaches I think one of the top complaints we hear is that you get all of the RSVP's too close to the wedding day and many times in large numbers all at once. The "Save the Date" video can be used to remind people to RSVP. When they get the video via e-mail a light goes off..."oh yeah we need to RSVP".

Ingrid and Chris are taking dance lessons in preparation for their first dance. We are going to film some of their practice session to add to their video. We love it when couples have a plan for their first dance...it makes for better video and the guests love it too. If you watch the video we did in Colorado (Andrew and Brittany) we incorporated the practice session in with the actual 'First Dance'.

Save The Date Video

NOTE: Quality reduced by Blogger

This is the engagement shoot of Carita and Nate. They are a very fun couple. Carita was really fun to work with as she pulled Nate into poses that made the shoot work. We are filming Carita and Nates wedding next year. Thanks to Stefanie and Brock with SB Childs Photography for letting us tag along. Stefanie and Brock have alot of energy during their sessions, which really helps tap into the personalities of the client.

Our Family Photos-Fun!

We had our family photos taken by Amanda and Nate Reynolds with Turtlepond Photography

All of our favorite photographers seem to have this inherent gift of being able to catch the moment to tell the story. Amanda and Nate are one of the very best.

When I look at these photos I see talent but I also see our children who seem to grow up too fast. I always heard my Mom and Dad say this and you know what...it is so true. Kids, we love you all!

I love the photo of me giving Jennifer a kiss. I was being overly dramatic with it and of course the kids were like "Oh gross". Shaylee in the background has that 'see no evil' look.

Well it's official....we finished second place in the Channel 6 A-List competition! The best thing about all of this is just being nominated. Whether we finished first, last or somewhere in between was fine with us. What we really appreciate are the comments we received from our former clients. This has been an incredible year and we are looking forward to 2008 and already have some really cool places to shoot. Thanks to all.

Photo courtesy of Kevin Monahan Photography.
Here are some of the comments we received from the competition:

Brittany Ramsey

"The highlight video that Northernlight Filmworks created is by far the best momento of our wedding that we have. I have gotten so many compliments on it and most of my friends say they cry every time they watch it. We could never thank John and Jennifer enough! They are amazing and definitely the best!"

Andrew Ramsey

"Northernlight did our wedding and the final production was absolutely stunning! They are tremendous to work with. Their creative vision and desire to capture all aspects of the event is unmatched. We are truly lucky to have such a great memory to share and remember our wedding! Thank you so much!"

Deanna & Anthony

"John and Jennifer, at Northernlight Filmworks are an incredible, professional team to work with. They are extremely talented and ultimately capture the emotion of the couple and the day. When we were choosing our videographer for our wedding, it was imperative for us to find an individual or team, that was almost transparent to the day.... and they were! So organized, timely and above all else - you can see how much they ENJOY what they do! When it comes to the most important day of your life, you better find someone who is passionate in what they do - and I assure you, you will find that in John and Jennifer. Thanks Guys! You're the Best!"

Carol Renz

"I sometimes worked with my dad who was an incredible and talented videographer years ago in Indy so I am familiar with what it takes to be that good. Although you can teach a person how to video events you truly must have the desire, talent & gift to produce the work Northernlight Filmworks produces - unbelievable!"

Leslie Frazer

"Northernlight Filmworks was amazing to work with on every level!!! Their professionalism and ability to accomodate us in every way made the whole experience that much more memorable. They captured so much more than we could even imagine. In the process of planning and making a wedding happen you can sometimes forget or leave out pieces that Northernlight Filmworks as our videographers had the ability to capture that we might have otherwise never had the memory of. Our son's wedding video is amazing and will be viewed over and over for a long long time!!!! Thanks Northernlight Filmworks!!! Outstanding job!"

Tena Frazer

"They clearly are the 'best,' for a number of reasons: They 'listen' to the customer, are professional and extremely creative. It's a joy to work with such great people who produce outstanding work!"

Jim Ellis

"Northernlight Filmworks is outstanding. Wonderful in creativity and their editing is amazing."

Dawn Carsten

"They are so in-tune with the bride and groom, and they are amazingly dedicated to assuring that their work meets all of your expectations. They are extremely warm-hearted and talented."

Alicia

"They are completely professional and the nicest people you'll ever meet! They do a fantastic job!"

Robert Figgins

"The professional quality of their work is amazing! Attention to every detail of the event and the expectations of their clients."

Megan

"First class treatment from start to finish from John and Jennifer! An absolute pleasure to work with! You HAVE to visit their website and watch the featured video from Colorado....wow."

Josh

"They're fantastic to work with! They filmed our love story and are about to film our wedding. They're fun, professional and extremely creative. They get to know us and what we like and are like, then they edit from there. Amazing products!"

Rick

"Northernlight Filmworks produced 2 events for us - both exceeding all expectations. Awesome job."

Josh & Kristin Halpern Highlight Video

NOTE: This is a reduced quality image for Blogger.

We had the honor of filming Kristin and Josh's wedding. It was so beautiful and I'm sure memorable for them as well. We started early on with Kristin and Josh and filmed their engagement session. For us this was a classical wedding and that goes along with a very classy family. Turtlepond Photography did a stellar job as usual with their awesome photography. Go see the wedding photos on their blog.
Thanks Kristin and Josh.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Last weekend was the wedding of Deanna and Anthony. The wedding was held at the Brickyard Crossing Inn at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The day was absolutely perfect! As with all of our couples, we get to know a little bit about them and Deanna and Anthony were no different. Leading up to the wedding they have been through some really trying and difficult times. From having their home broke into and loosing many things to transmission problems. Deanna also lost her father a few months ago. Having filmed many weddings from Indianapolis and as far away as Colorado, the common thread is that family and friends make the wedding day all that more special. We cannot imagine but it must have been particularly hard for Deanna and Anthony not to have someone like her father experience the day. But Deanna's brother said it right when he said that he knew that "Dad" was smiling all day long. His little girl had turned into a beautiful woman and is now embarking on a new chapter of her life with Anthony. It was clearly evident that this day meant alot to Anthony and was really in love with his new Bride.

We were able to gain access to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track because of Deanna's historic connection with the Speedway. Her Grandfather was legendary race driver Dennis "Duke" Nalon. Duke started 10 Indy 500 races, he was a 2 time pole setter. Both Deanna and Anthony have racing backgrounds. It was a great gesture from the Speedway allowing the couple to get some video and photos on the track and at the Winners Circle.

Oh yeah...we hi-jacked Jeremey Rhoades to get a picture of the two of us kissing the bricks at the Start/Finish line.
We don't usually do this but this was an opportunity we had to take advantage of. Thanks Deanna and Anthony for letting us get this shot and thanks for letting us in on your very special day. It was fun!

A special thanks to Chris James, DJ of Ultimate Entertainment www.ultimateentertainment.com for letting us plug into his board to capture some audio.

We had the honor of really getting to know Tony and Heidi and it was a pleasure working with them. Tony and Heidi had us film their lovestory video. When we produce lovestory videos it really lets us in on the lives of the Bride and Groom. Tony and Heidi were highschool sweethearts and they just seem to be really good friends. The wedding was held and Simmons Winery near Columbus, IN and it was a beautiful wedding. The programs were designed by none other than Heidi herself who owns and operates her own wedding invitation business under the name idieh designs. She is a very creative designer. It took my daughter to point out that "idieh" is actually Heidi's name spelled backwards....how cool is that. You can visit her website at www.idiehdesign.com Tony surprised Heidi with an increadible gift for her on her wedding day, a brand new car! Tony and Heidi were planning on Honeymooning in Mexico.

We had the pleasure of working with a very talented photographer, Anne Ruthmann. She was a pleasure to work with. Anne's website is located at www.anneruthmann.com

Congrats to Tony and Heidi.

Jeff George Foundation

We had the opportunity to film a promotional video for the Jeff George foundation. As part of the promotional video we interviewed Jeff and his Mom, Judy. Judy battled breast cancer and this is what motivated Jeff to use his foundation to help the fight against breast cancer. Judy is one of the most sincere people we have met and she is full of energy. It was a pleasure working with the Jeff George Foundation. Look for the promo video soon. You can visit the Jeff George Foundation at www.jeffgeorgefoundation.com

Topsail Island

We are back from our annual trip to Topsail Island, NC. We discovered this area from a wedding 3 years ago. The island primarily has private beach homes, which means mostly private beaches. Our children love the sand and the surf. This is one of those vacations where we check our watches at the door and try and leave the cell phones inside. What a difference this makes! The vacation seems to last longer. We tell the kids, eat what you want to eat when you want to eat and go to bed when you want to go to bed and get up when you want to get up. The first time I told them this, their eyes darted back and forth at each other as if to say, “I think Dad finally lost it.” To us this is what a vacation is for, to indulge a bit in food and sleep. A great way to reinvigorate your spirit. The beach has a way of filtering the busyness of life and your mind can really wonder about. We value the bonding effect of vacations and always try and remember that we are creating memories for our children. There is something about taking a walk with your son or daughter and just spending time talking about different things. My daughter asked me where all the “hot” guys were at. What! Oh no. Where did my little girl go? My first thought was to say, “there are no hot guys anywhere so stop looking”. Nice try Dad. These kinds of vacations are also good for my Wife and I to reconnect and take those same walks on the beach. It wasn’t so bad either watching her get a nice tan!

We visited the sea turtle hospital. This is a non-profit hospital obviously for sea turtles. Most of the turtles were injured from boat props while others had infections. They keep them just long enough to nurse them back to good health and then off they go. One thing we like to do is to collect fossilized sharks teeth. This is one of the few areas in the nation to find these sharks teeth. The teeth are over 50 million years old! Our son Kyle and his friend Brock Frazer went fishing and caught a few. Another favorite activity we enjoy is riding the waves. Kyle and Brock have become quite proficient at skim boarding. Something I tried once and about busted by backside. I’ll just watch.

A movie was being shot right down the way from us. Richard Gere and Diane Lane were on location for this movie based on a book written by Nicolas Sparks. All of his novels apparently take place in North Carolina.

Our long time friends Troy and Leslie Frazer along with their son Brock, joined us this year. It was also great spending time with them.

Our last night, we traditionally get our family photos captured on the beach. We took our last walk down the beach to soak it all in once more. Barefoot and walking partly in the surf. All the kids were singing songs, laughing and trying to catch the crabs that were scurrying about. I walked with my Wife Jennifer and we were hand in hand. Walking back the sun had nearly set and off in the distance I could see the flashes from cameras. The flashes were like a finale at a fireworks show indicating the end. The end until next year and then we will add more to our scrapbook of perpetual memories.

We are anxious to get back to filming and editing. We have another engagement shoot we are doing this time with Kevin Monahan photography. We will be at the Indianapolis Museum of Art filming the engagement shoot. Stay tuned for the video. Kevin and Alicia are good friends and amazing photographers. One of the best.

Josh and Kristen Engagement Shoot

Photo courtesy of Turtlepond Photography, photographer Amanda Reynolds

Something new we are doing at the Filmworks....capturing your engagement photo session with your photographer. This was with one of our favorite photographers, Turtlepond Photography. Amanda Reynolds has some great shots of the day on their blog at www.turtlepondphotography.com The video concept is something we came up with to allow the Bride and Groom a different way to announce their wedding. Its not intended to replace the tradition of sending cards. All you do is send family and friends the link and they can view anywhere in the world. The video really helps preserve a bit of the day and creates some excitement. Its something we can really have fun with. A special thanks to Josh and Kristen for letting us in on this and a big thank you to Turtlepond Photography. Thanks Amanda and Nate.

Tell us what you think of our new concept video.

Florida Trip with Noblesville Swim Club

I have been in Florida for the past week with the Noblesville Swim Club Senior Group. My son Kyle just moved up this spring. The kids have been working very hard trainning at the Aquatic Center in St. Pete. I am actually one of the van drivers and take a group of kids to the pool every morning and evening.

We have been staying at the Bilmar Beach Resort in Treasure Island. I am glad I came along on the trip. This has not only been a great bonding experience for Kyle as an incoming freshman, but it has been an excellent bonding experience for me as well getting to know some of the other parents and the other swimmers as well. The kids have had some really neat experiences doing team activities, eating meals together and just hanging out at the beach and pool.

On Thursday we did an "Adventure Race". Of course I was one of the drivers and had 8 high school kids yell directions to me. The hardest part of the race was not being able to help them and let them know when we were going the wrong direction.

We have been competing in swim meet in Sarasota the past few days. The training has really paid off, kids are dropping times left and right. Kyle hasn't had as good of results over all, but did take 9 seconds off his 200 Free.

I am ready to get home and see John and the girls. I have missed them very much. Well, time to head down to the pool for a little down time.

Our Adventure to Pike's Peak

On Saturday we decided to go to Pike's Peak and drive up to the summit. It was a beautiful day the sun was shining and it was about 72 degrees. We found a very neat restaurant as we turned onto Pike's Peak Hwy. It was called Colorado Wine. Since is was such a nice day out we decided to eat on the porch in the beautiful Colorado sunshine. The food was fabulous.

So off we go on our adventure to summit Pike's Peak (the easy way of course). When we arrived at the gate to the drive to the summit the park ranger said it was cloudy at the top and if the weather conditions got bad the would close down the roads going up. Well it was sunny where we were so we decided to continue. As we ascended the mountain it started to rain. The mountain is beautiful. Next it started to sleet, then hail, then snow. All in about 15 minutes. You sure don't get that kind of weather in Indiana. The sun came back out and we enjoyed the view of climbing (driving) the mountain. Every turn provided a new and breathtaking view. As we came to the summit it was getting cloudy. We got out looked around for just a few minutes, but couldn't see much, so we decided to go back down to a lower elevation where the clouds weren't so thick.

As we drove the fog was so thick we couldn't see but a few feet in front of our van. There are no guardrails along the road, so if you drive off the road, you drive off the mountain. Not something we wanted to do. John had to stop a few times because the visibility was so bad. As we approached the check point half way down, the road was blocked off and the park rangers were not allowing anyone to go up to the summit. Apparently there was a snow storm at the summit and the people up there had to wait until it cleared before they could drive down. I guess we left at the right time.

I hope you enjoy our photos.

Colorado Springs

John and I are out in Colorado Springs to film a wedding at Garden of the Gods. When we arrived it was dark so we couldn't see the mountains, which we were bummed. So we were pleasently suprised when we woke up and could see Pikes Peak through our hotel room window.

Yesterday we went to the Garden of the Gods to just check it out. All I can say is WOW!!!! It is spectacular. We were driving down the road and it looked like all the other terrain then all of a sudden you see these magnificent red rock formations. Seeing it gave me chills and took my breath away. We only spent about an hour there, looking at different angles we could shoot. The plan was to get up at sunrise this morning to get some shots, but it was cloudy so we are going to try again tomorrow.

Well we are off to film the father of the bride and mother of the groom taking dance lessons, then film a "Dirty Jobs" spoof for the wedding film. We will write more as our advetures continue.

Emma

Yesterday we spent Memorial Day with John's parents in Plainfield IN. We wanted to see them before we left for our exciting adventure to Colorado. While getting ready to head out I thought I should call my sister-in-law Amanda to see what she was up to. Just about that time the phone rang and it was Amanda. She wanted to see us as well and wanted to verify what time we would be coming out. I just don't see Emma (2yrs) and Jack (3 mo) as often as I would like so I was so happy to find out we would get to spend the day with them.

Emma is just as cute as a button. She is so sweet and very smart. I am amazed by her vocabulary. She can't say Jennifer so she calls me Jenna. And she is always telling John, "John see you". Her favorite word right now is Eeka bo bo. She just made it up and loves to say it. John thinks we should have T-shirts made. She loves playing with all our kids.

Well yesterday, as the girls were getting ready to take Emma outside to play, Uncle John said the "P" word. You know PARK. So John, Bria and I scooped up Emma and away we went. I think it was a nice break for Amanda to get a little rest since Jack was finally asleep after being very fussy all day.

We had a blast. We played on the swings, the slide, the marry-go-round, the swings some more, the slide again, the swings , the slide, the swings... and then BOOM!! The swing attacked Emma and hit her in the head. She didn't cry at all which I was very suprised by the goose egg on her forehead. Lucky for Emma she was fine. We went on the marry-go-round one last time, and boy did John spin us fast. Emma was so dizzy she couldn't even walk straight and she kept laughing.

I am so glad I was able to spend the day with Emma, and Jack too. Amanda and I have decided to make regular playdates so the kids can spend more time together. Before we know it they will be all grown-up. I want them to get to know their cousins and have a close relationship with them.

We filmed our first of several weddings last weekend at Lakeside Park in Fort Wayne, IN. Our day started at 10:30am shooting the interview of the Groom, Greg while Jennifer traveled to another city to get the Bride, Holly interviewed. We love doing the lovestory spots because you really become a part of their world and learn alot about the couple. Greg and Holly are really in love with each other. The pressure was on Jennifer though because Holly is a TV news personality in North Dakota. Both Holly and Greg were outstanding to work with.

The wedding was held at Lakeside Park in Fort Wayne, IN and we had perfect weather. We were getting quite nervous though, because I was with the wedding party at another location for photo shoots. We were to ride to the wedding site by way of trolley, however, the trolley driver went the wrong direction oposite of where we needed to be. He thought it was at another park. We had to scramble and get Greg wired for sound and then I hit my camera post. Jennifer had everything set and ready to go. This was a 3 camera shoot. The reception was held at beautifully restored train station in Fort Wayne. My fisheye lense really came in handy to capture the grandness of the train station.

Our next wedding takes us to The Garden of The Gods in Colorado. We will be sure to post some photos.

Thanks,
John and Jennifer Moon

Gearing Up

It has been quite some time since we have last written. A lot has happened in our lives and business since those February snowstorms. We have worked on several video projects for Genesis Church in Noblesville and a nonprofit organization called Mission Uprising, as well as preparing for our very busy summer/fall wedding season. There are several interesting locations we are shooting this year: Garden of the Gods in Colorado, Lakeside Park in Fort Wayne, Simmons Winery in Columbus, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, Mavis in Indianapolis, and several historic churches.

We will be taking a week off in July to for our annual family vacation to North Topsail Beach, North Carolina. In August we plan on attending the WEVA (Wedding Event Videography Association) Convention in Las Vegas. We will make sure to write about and post photos from our adventures this year.

We added a new member to our family in February. We adopted a kitten from Amanda and Nate Reynolds of Turtle Pond Photography. The dogs, especially our lab Tucker, didn’t care for her at first, but they get along now. She is so sweet and loves to sleep on John, who really didn’t want a cat.

John and I also attend “A Weekend to Remember” Marriage Retreat, downtown Indy at the Marriott. It was fabulous. With our busy schedule sometimes we forget to spend some quality time together, even though we work together everyday, this was a way for the two of us to reconnect as husband and wife. If you ever get a chance to attend this seminar (they are held all over the country throughout the year) I highly recommend it. We are putting their website link on our blog and website.

Snow Snow Snow

There I was in the warmth of the studio editing a recent wedding. A peck on the door and its Jennifer all bundled up (that's her in the photo). I can see her through the glass motioning for me to come to the door and asked me to come out and play. That's a hard to resist invitation. Something about snow just brings out the kid in me. Our chocolate Lab Tucker was so excited that we were outside in the snow with him. Our yellow Lab Sydney remained inside and was fine just watching. We had about 18-20 inches of snow. If its going to be cold outside I would rather there be snow on the ground. But I did find myself daydreaming about our annual trip to North Topsail Island.

Jennifer and myself took a hike around our property. The snow was up to our knees. We felt like we were on a nordic expedition. Tucker had to hop through the snow.

Hope to see you at our next bridal show at Valle Vista Country Club in Greeenwood, IN.

Scott and Jessica Rubin Wedding

We filmed Scott and Jessica's wedding day last Saturday at the Mariott downtown Indianapolis. The Wedding and the reception were held at the Mariott. The staff at the Mariott were very accomodating and professional.

One of the things we enjoy about filming weddings is getting to meet some interesting people and to get to know the Bride and Groom. Scott and Jessica have a wonderful extended family and fantastic friends, who all shared the day with them. The ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Mark Goldman who has known Scott for over 20 years. Rabbi Mark, as he likes to be called, was entertaining and engaging. His delivery although entertaining and educational, it was also emotional. Rabbi Mark said something that stood out to us. He delivered a message not only to Scott and Jessica but to all the guests and reminded us that we should all wake up in the morning "with fresh eyes". Forget about yesterday's mistakes and start your day with fresh eyes. Great words of wisdom.

We were able to gather some great footage. A special thanks to DJ's Direct in helping us getting people involved with providing an on camera message to Scott and Jessica.

A special thanks to Scott and Jessica for picking Northernlight Filmworks to capture their wedding day and we wish them all the best in the many years ahead of them.

Welcome

A new addition to our website to post some happenings with Northernlight Filmworks and to comment on our weddings and special events that have or will be taking place.

We are busy working with Brides who have contacted us from the Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis. We are gearing up for the next Perfect Wedding Guide Show in February at Valle Vista in Greenwood, IN.

We are also examining our editing workflow and will probably be adding hard disk recorders to our cameras, which will speed up the capture process, which is a time consuming part of editing. This will also be a great backup for our clients in the rare event we have a tape jam.

Met with our web designer, Chad Jackson (www.pingstorm.com), last night to tweak the already great looking work he did. Watch for more videos to go up in the screening room.
