Josh and Kristen Engagement Shoot

Photo courtesy of Turtlepond Photography, photographer Amanda Reynolds

Something new we are doing at the Filmworks....capturing your engagement photo session with your photographer. This was with one of our favorite photographers, Turtlepond Photography. Amanda Reynolds has some great shots of the day on their blog at www.turtlepondphotography.com The video concept is something we came up with to allow the Bride and Groom a different way to announce their wedding. Its not intended to replace the tradition of sending cards. All you do is send family and friends the link and they can view anywhere in the world. The video really helps preserve a bit of the day and creates some excitement. Its something we can really have fun with. A special thanks to Josh and Kristen for letting us in on this and a big thank you to Turtlepond Photography. Thanks Amanda and Nate.

Tell us what you think of our new concept video.

Florida Trip with Noblesville Swim Club

I have been in Florida for the past week with the Noblesville Swim Club Senior Group. My son Kyle just moved up this spring. The kids have been working very hard trainning at the Aquatic Center in St. Pete. I am actually one of the van drivers and take a group of kids to the pool every morning and evening.

We have been staying at the Bilmar Beach Resort in Treasure Island. I am glad I came along on the trip. This has not only been a great bonding experience for Kyle as an incoming freshman, but it has been an excellent bonding experience for me as well getting to know some of the other parents and the other swimmers as well. The kids have had some really neat experiences doing team activities, eating meals together and just hanging out at the beach and pool.

On Thursday we did an "Adventure Race". Of course I was one of the drivers and had 8 high school kids yell directions to me. The hardest part of the race was not being able to help them and let them know when we were going the wrong direction.

We have been competing in swim meet in Sarasota the past few days. The training has really paid off, kids are dropping times left and right. Kyle hasn't had as good of results over all, but did take 9 seconds off his 200 Free.

I am ready to get home and see John and the girls. I have missed them very much. Well, time to head down to the pool for a little down time.

Our Adventure to Pike's Peak

On Saturday we decided to go to Pike's Peak and drive up to the summit. It was a beautiful day the sun was shining and it was about 72 degrees. We found a very neat restaurant as we turned onto Pike's Peak Hwy. It was called Colorado Wine. Since is was such a nice day out we decided to eat on the porch in the beautiful Colorado sunshine. The food was fabulous.

So off we go on our adventure to summit Pike's Peak (the easy way of course). When we arrived at the gate to the drive to the summit the park ranger said it was cloudy at the top and if the weather conditions got bad the would close down the roads going up. Well it was sunny where we were so we decided to continue. As we ascended the mountain it started to rain. The mountain is beautiful. Next it started to sleet, then hail, then snow. All in about 15 minutes. You sure don't get that kind of weather in Indiana. The sun came back out and we enjoyed the view of climbing (driving) the mountain. Every turn provided a new and breathtaking view. As we came to the summit it was getting cloudy. We got out looked around for just a few minutes, but couldn't see much, so we decided to go back down to a lower elevation where the clouds weren't so thick.

As we drove the fog was so thick we couldn't see but a few feet in front of our van. There are no guardrails along the road, so if you drive off the road, you drive off the mountain. Not something we wanted to do. John had to stop a few times because the visibility was so bad. As we approached the check point half way down, the road was blocked off and the park rangers were not allowing anyone to go up to the summit. Apparently there was a snow storm at the summit and the people up there had to wait until it cleared before they could drive down. I guess we left at the right time.

I hope you enjoy our photos.

Colorado Springs

John and I are out in Colorado Springs to film a wedding at Garden of the Gods. When we arrived it was dark so we couldn't see the mountains, which we were bummed. So we were pleasently suprised when we woke up and could see Pikes Peak through our hotel room window.

Yesterday we went to the Garden of the Gods to just check it out. All I can say is WOW!!!! It is spectacular. We were driving down the road and it looked like all the other terrain then all of a sudden you see these magnificent red rock formations. Seeing it gave me chills and took my breath away. We only spent about an hour there, looking at different angles we could shoot. The plan was to get up at sunrise this morning to get some shots, but it was cloudy so we are going to try again tomorrow.

Well we are off to film the father of the bride and mother of the groom taking dance lessons, then film a "Dirty Jobs" spoof for the wedding film. We will write more as our advetures continue.
